Introducing PropStrike Studio & Quatam River Airport!

Last night my friend Sérgio of HeliSimmer.com (don’t know who that dude is? Check out this interview) posted exciting news of a new developer coming to our platform! PropStrike Studio is a new design team of some well-known members of our community, Karl Høybye and Luciano Pommella. Karl is the lead developer of X-World Sceneries (I wonder if that studio is still a thing now that we have PropStrike… I shall find out!) who made this really cool Allan & Burrows Island scenery. Luciano apparently is a 3D surfacing supervisor for the CG industry who approached Karl after buying the before-mentioned Allan & Burrows scenery after seeing the potential for these tiny bush strips.

Well anyway, these guys are now working on Quatam River Airport which is located in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia in Canada and judging from these screenshots (you gotta click on them to view them in fullscreen) this will be a beauty! Good luck, PropStrike! Read more about this over at HeliSimmer.com here. And in case you have a Facebook account, make sure to drop these new guys a like here.

EDIT: I already contacted Karl to find out if and how X-World Sceneries was affected by these news. Well, it isn’t. As Karl stated, “X-World Sceneries is just what I call the projects when I make them by myself so that is in no way gone”. The more the merrier! 🙂

Where’s that Saab 340A Compatibility Patch gone?

Don’t we all wonder about that? After the announcement that Leading Edge Simulations’ “Saab Version 1.5 is officially complete” and “have been sent to Cameron at X-Aviation” back in December 24th last year we are all waiting for this much anticipated update that adds full X-Plane 11 compatibility to your beloved Saab 340A! Well, what happened? See what the developer has to say about it:

“Guys, I’m just quickly going to address something here regarding the Saab. And this is with all due respect, and zero frustration. It’s just an FYI.I’m getting a LOT of PM’s about the update. When will it be in the store? Is it vaporware? Is it really finished? Is there more work to do on it? The last PM I received was (This is the condensed version and the one that made me type up this post) “You’re entire operation lacks professionalism. I’m tired of waiting for this update and I’m taking my business elsewhere. Good luck!”

So I’m letting everyone know, here and now, what is going on. It is DEFINITELY finished. It was finished when I said it was finished. Just over 2 weeks ago. Jim and I are not the only developers working under X-Aviation. X-Aviation has other developer responsibilities. There are also customers who require support from X-Aviation on a daily basis. Sometimes up to, and over 350 support tickets a day. We don’t expect Cameron to drop everything and get the Saab packaged and uploaded to the store. It’s not a simple matter of “Hey Cam, here are the files!” and he then hits the upload button and within minutes, it’s there. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes. It’s not a simple zip file that you download and place in your aircraft folder. There’s DRM, scripts that need to be encrypted. An installer that needs to be coded. And that’s just off the top of my head.

It flies and operates beautifully, and I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait. We understand some people’s frustration, but we ask that you be just a little more patient. Unless X-Aviation goes out of business, it WILL be in the store very soon. Thanks for reading, and hopefully understanding.”

Seems some folks can’t handle the pressure! 😀 We’ll have this update soon in our hands. Patience guys, patience!

Skyline Goes P3D v4!

Skyline Simulations,  creator of lovely KSNA John Wayne (see our review) who only recently announced MKJS Montego Bay, have now announced that they will be developing their airports for P3D v4 in parallel with X-Plane 11 from now on. See the full announcement:

“Hello everybody!
We’ve been eager to make this announcement for a very long time but have decided to say it now, loud and clear! P3D V4 is a major step forward for the ESP Platform in allowing scenery developers to create scenery that it is more detailed than ever and runs better than ever before. After much deliberation, we’ve chosen to embrace the capabilities of this platform and begin developing our airports for P3D V4 in parallel with XPlane 11! This DOES NOT mean that our XPlane 11 projects will be affected at all; we’ll still be able to deliver them in the same amount of time as before. […]

I don’t know. Using X-Plane exclusively (morally the only right thing to do 😛 ) I just hope X-Plane remains their lead platform. We’ll see, though. We’ll see!
