Where’s that Saab 340A Compatibility Patch gone?

Don’t we all wonder about that? After the announcement that Leading Edge Simulations’ “Saab Version 1.5 is officially complete” and “have been sent to Cameron at X-Aviation” back in December 24th last year we are all waiting for this much anticipated update that adds full X-Plane 11 compatibility to your beloved Saab 340A! Well, what happened? See what the developer has to say about it:

“Guys, I’m just quickly going to address something here regarding the Saab. And this is with all due respect, and zero frustration. It’s just an FYI.I’m getting a LOT of PM’s about the update. When will it be in the store? Is it vaporware? Is it really finished? Is there more work to do on it? The last PM I received was (This is the condensed version and the one that made me type up this post) “You’re entire operation lacks professionalism. I’m tired of waiting for this update and I’m taking my business elsewhere. Good luck!”

So I’m letting everyone know, here and now, what is going on. It is DEFINITELY finished. It was finished when I said it was finished. Just over 2 weeks ago. Jim and I are not the only developers working under X-Aviation. X-Aviation has other developer responsibilities. There are also customers who require support from X-Aviation on a daily basis. Sometimes up to, and over 350 support tickets a day. We don’t expect Cameron to drop everything and get the Saab packaged and uploaded to the store. It’s not a simple matter of “Hey Cam, here are the files!” and he then hits the upload button and within minutes, it’s there. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes. It’s not a simple zip file that you download and place in your aircraft folder. There’s DRM, scripts that need to be encrypted. An installer that needs to be coded. And that’s just off the top of my head.

It flies and operates beautifully, and I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait. We understand some people’s frustration, but we ask that you be just a little more patient. Unless X-Aviation goes out of business, it WILL be in the store very soon. Thanks for reading, and hopefully understanding.”

Seems some folks can’t handle the pressure! 😀 We’ll have this update soon in our hands. Patience guys, patience!

It will be worth the wait.  Looks already fantastic in XP11 and I’m sure I’m going to use it a lot.  Same as my Carenado DO-228, fantastic plane.ReplyCancel

Just like those who can’t wait for the FFA320 and get SO mad whenever the subject of release comes up for them. Good things take time. You want a finished aircraft – or one that has features missing, but released earlier?ReplyCancel

Well that one is already finished, but I do get your point ReplyCancel

There isn’t a day where I don’t see someone mentioning some issue with X-Aviation, such a shame since there are some great addons on there 🙁ReplyCancel

“Taking my business elsewhere” REALLY!? Learn some patience. Well worth the wait and totally understandable. It’s not like you dished out cash for the update and stuck waiting for it. You’re just impatient and couldn’t care less about how hard the developer works. And Ollie – You’ll LOVE the 228. It’s perfect for Savalbard4XPlane.ReplyCancel

The DO228 became my favorite GA plane.   Have bought the Saab 340.  Waiting to fly her until the XP11 update has been released.  In meanwhile I’m doing a VFR tour in the USA with my beloved Dornier 🙂ReplyCancel
